Event Description
Walk with Ease is designed for people interested in walking in groups. Sessions begin with a short discussion important to successful walking or arthritis management. Participants will develop an individual walking plan, learn stretching techniques and tips to improve current mobility and endurance. This 60-minute class meets twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:00 AM for six weeks from March 5-April 11.
Our first session on March 5 will start inside the library, but we will normally meet at the stage in Shannon Miller Park. Please come dressed appropriately for the weather and bring water to hydrate; we will walk outside whenever possible. You will be contacted by email or text if we cancel due to extreme or unsafe conditions. Please register for each session so we know whom to expect. Registration opens one week prior.
Walk with Ease will be facilitated by an educator from OHAI (Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative). OHAI offers health and wellness programs for seniors and caregivers. Their informative workshops are available to assist Oklahomans manage their health as they age. With a variety of classes and resources, they are improving the health of Oklahomans statewide.
OHAI will also be participating in the Senior Marathon during the OKC Marathon. If you are interested, our Walk with Ease sessions will be an opportunity to complete 25 miles before the race (at your own pace) and then just 1.2 miles the day of the race!
