Event Description
Native American/Indigenous art has a rich and diverse heritage in North America. It encompasses many different types of forms from many regions. The art can also reflect other artistic movements and influences. In this kit, we examine the work of the contemporary Apache artist John Nieto who used bright primary colors and a bold painting style to represent portraits of native people and animals in the west. We will create an art project in the style of John Nieto and learn more about the Apache nation.
Want to Know More About Contemporary Art? Check out our system's new Oklahoma Contemporary Art Reference Library which is located downtown. This library collection though does circulate so you may place a hold on materials that interest you and pick them up at your local branch.
