Event Description
What good can a splash of color do in a community of gray? Come find out as you become the little artist that could! In this ZOOM program, we'll (1) watch a short animated video called "Words on the Wall" from the Different and The Same series; (2) read together Maybe Something Beautiful: How Art Transformed a Neighborhood by F. Isabel Campoy; and (3) personalize a puzzle piece in a way that represents your unique self within the community! Be the paintbrush and join in the celebration of color! If you attended our programs with the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice (OCCJ) last February or in 2000, please note this is a NEW video! You can pick up your puzzle piece Wed Feb 16-Sat Feb 19. Please return it as soon as possible to the Info Desk.
Different and the Same is a child-focused initiative that helps students identify, talk about, and prevent prejudice. The centerpiece of the program is a series of child-friendly videos developed by the company affiliated with the highly-regarded children’s program “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.” The videos utilize a diverse group of puppets and live actors to teach lessons about differences, respect, and getting along with others. These lessons stay with children for a lifetime, helping them develop into caring and compassionate citizens.
