Program Description
Event Description
The Royal Game of Ur is related to the modern game of backgammon and was played in ancient Mesopotamia. The rules were translated by Irving Finkel of the British Museum from a cuneiform tablet written in 177 BCE. The earliest game boards date to about 2400 BC and have been found all over the Middle East.
This is a take home kit for ages 12 and up. With the exception of scissors, the kit contains the supplies to make a paper version of the Royal Game of Ur. Included is a game board and playing pieces to be created out of cardstock and the rules for playing the Royal Game of Ur. Young children will need adult supervision and assistance.
Kits may be picked up at the Downtown Library via Curbside Delivery or inside at the Circulation Desk beginning July 10, 2024 through July 23, 2024
