Program Description
Event Description
June 19th (also known as Juneteenth) is Emancipation Day - a federal holiday to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the USA. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people were freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1862. Celebrate the good news as a family by making your own Juneteenth decorations with this kit.
So that more families are able to enjoy this kit, please only register for one kit per household.
