Join us at Northwest Library for an engaging adult workshop exploring the impactful print works of contemporary Native American artist Edgar Heap of Birds. Participants will gain insight into his distinctive artistic voice that challenges historical narratives and advocates for Indigenous perspectives through powerful text-based prints and installations.
During this hands-on workshop, you'll:
- Learn about Edgar Heap of Birds' artistic journey and his significant contributions to contemporary art
- Explore his use of printmaking as a medium for cultural expression and social commentary
- Examine his techniques for combining text and imagery to create thought-provoking messages
- Create your own print using gelli art plates, a versatile printmaking method perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike
All materials will be provided, and no prior art experience is necessary. Space is limited, so registration is required. Discover the transformative power of printmaking while engaging with themes of identity, history, and place through this immersive artistic experience.
