Festive Crafts, Educational Fun and Family-Friendly Events at Metro Libraries This December
Looking for fun, free and educational activities this holiday season? The Metropolitan Library System offers a variety of events throughout December to bring joy and inspiration to families and guests of all ages.
Holly Jolly Holiday Events
Celebrate the season with these festive library events for little ones and for the whole family:
- Letters to Santa
Dec. 1–21 all day | Capitol Hill Library
Send your holiday wishes directly to the North Pole!
- Hot Chocolate & Coffee for Cowboy Christmas
Dec. 7 at 9 a.m. | Wright Library
Warm up with free hot chocolate or coffee for all ages before and after the Stockyard's City Cowboy Christmas Parade.
- Around the World: Holidays
Dec. 11 at 3:30 p.m. | Downtown Library
Explore global holiday traditions through crafts and activities for kids, geared toward ages 5-11.
- Reindeer Games
Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. | Del City Library
Enjoy games, carols and crafts for all ages. Registration is required.
- Joyfest
Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. | Almonte Library
Celebrate winter traditions worldwide with crafts, games and treats for all ages.
- Ye Olde Village Yuletide
Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. | Village Library
Step back in time with medieval crafts and activities for all ages.
- Kids' Holiday Shoppe
Dec. 17 at 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. | Southern Oaks Library
Give kids the joy of picking out free gifts for their loved ones. With help from library staff, children can choose two small, adult-oriented goodies to surprise family members. Signup is required and spots are limited—visit the Information Desk or call (405) 631-4468 ext. 3 to reserve a time slot.

Kids can create unique snowflake ornaments at home with popsicle sticks, glitter glue, paint and sequins for a fun winter craft.
- Winter Wonderland House Craft-Kit
Dec. 17–23, all day | Capitol Hill Library
Craft a charming winter wonderland house kit, made with cardstock for all ages.
For Adults:
- Deck the Bottles: Christmas Wine Bottle Upcycling
Dec. 4, 6:30 p.m. | Edmond Library
Transform wine bottles into holiday decorations. Registration is required.
- Cross-Stitch Ornaments
Dec. 8, 3 p.m. | Southern Oaks Library
Learn cross-stitch to create holiday ornaments, perfect for beginners. Registration is required.
Winter Break Experience Passes
This Winter Break, borrow free passes for entry to Oklahoma City’s top attractions, including the American Banjo Museum, First Americans Museum, Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Oklahoma Firefighters Museum, Oklahoma Hall of Fame Gaylord-Pickens Museum, Oklahoma History Center and Museum of Osteology. These passes provide free admission for up to four people and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Passes can be checked out at participating library locations, and each pass is valid for up to one week. Availability may vary, so be sure to call ahead to confirm the availability of specific passes.
