Spooky Season at Your Local Library: Kits, Crafts, and Creepy Fun for All Ages

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 15, 2024

Libraries across the Metropolitan Library System are ready for Halloween with take-home kits and in-person events for all ages. Whether you're crafting eerie decorations or enjoying ghoulish fun, there’s something spooky for everyone this season.

Take-Home Kits: Several libraries are offering creative kits to celebrate Halloween at your own pace. Del City Library features a DIY Pumpkin Spice Latte kit available on September 3. Almonte Library offers a Monster Slime Lab kit from October 1-13, perfect for making glittery slime monsters. Edmond Library provides Silly Pumpkin Faces for kids and Standing Ghosts for teens from October 15-20. Warr Acres Library has a Halloween Plushie Kit available from October 20-26, including everything needed to craft a no-sew ghost, jack-o-lantern or bat.

Pumpkin Decorating: Don’t miss the chance to showcase your artistic flair at Edmond Library's annual "The Literary Pumpkin" decorating contest, running from September 23 to October 6. Pick up a mini pumpkin and transform it into a work of art inspired by your favorite literary characters, books, or stories. Whether you paint, carve or bedazzle it, be sure to return your masterpiece to the Edmond Library in time for voting. This contest is open to kids, teens, and adults, with kits available while supplies last.

Paranormal Fest: Saturday, October 26, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library. Enjoy expert talks on Bigfoot and ghost hunting, a family-friendly movie marathon, arts and crafts, an escape room, a vendor fair and more. Don’t forget to grab a take-home kit to extend the fun!
