Program Description

Event Description

Try something new while helping the planet!

We want to build awareness for period sustainability and period poverty.

The majority of period products used are one-time use, disposable products. The average menstruating person uses over 11,000 disposable pads and tampons over a lifetime.1 Approximately, 1.8 billion people menstruate every month around the world, if we do the math that is a lot of people!2 If you are curious what your current menstrual footprint is, tryout Green Period's menstrual footprint calculator

Sustainable products are a wonderful alternative to single-use products! Often, sustainable products, can be used over and over and, with proper care, can last years. The down-side to them are the initial cost to purchase them are often not affordable. But in the long run, reusable products cost individuals less since you are only buying 1-3 products that will last years!

With this kit, we are wanting to breakdown the financial barrier to reusable products and give you the chance to try new products without the upfront cost!

This take home kit is for exploring sustainable menstruation products to find what is right for you.

The kit will include:

1 Diva Cup (size 1)

5 Reusable Cloth Pads

3 Menstrual Discs

Instructional pamphlets for each type of period product.

All menstrual products are provided by Period OKC and the reusable pads were created by Girl Scouts!
