Event Description
Today's toughest world issues are often difficult for young children to understand. Yet, most issues facing our society will be something they will encounter in their future. One way to open dialogue and introduce these problems to a child is through reading. This children's edition of real-world issues will provide curated books that touch on problems facing our society today. These include climate change, poverty, and refugee and immigration crises at home and abroad.
For the month of November Issa Watanabe's 'Migrants' will be included in a kit along with family activities and questions to discuss while viewing this book.
'The migrants must leave the forest. Borders are crossed, sacrifices made, loved ones are lost. It takes such courage to reach the end. At last the journey is over and the migrants arrive. This is the new place .With forceful simplicity, Migrants narrates the journey of a group of animals leaving a leafless forest. Borders must be crossed, sacrifices made, loved ones left behind.'
Engagement and discussion among children and parents is highly recommended for this program. As such we can only guarantee one kit per household and per registration.
