Event Description
Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter who was known for being one of the pioneers for abstract art. Starting his career in figurative painting, he became known for his more abstract style when his art was condensed to geometric elements. Mondrian’s art had a major influence on 20th century art and influenced art movements such as Color Field painting, Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism.
“Mondrian has come to mean Modernism. His name and his work sum up the High Modernist ideal. I don’t like the word ‘iconic’, so let’s say that he’s become totemic – a totem for everything Modernism set out to be.” - Stephen Bayley, design historian
Using the white cardstock as your canvas, you can use the colored cardstock and print paper to make different geometric shapes to create your own Piet Mondrian art!
