Program Description
Event Description
Lisbeth L. McCarty spent more than 30 years as an appellate criminal defense attorney. During that time, she also worked as a free-lance writer. Now that she has retired from her attorney job, she is a full-time writer covering numerous genres. Lisbeth is currently a member of the editorial board of Q&A, the Law Digest of the Criminal Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association. Besides having represented defendants in death penalty cases and being threatened face-to-face by a serial killer, she has endured the murder of a neighbor, her sister's former boyfriend, other acquaintances, and a family member. She will share these real-life true crime experiences, stories behind her true-crime book, "Mental States of Murderesses," and information about how to write in the true-crime field.
