Program Description
Event Description
Come hear a performance of the ever-popular children's classic "Peter and the Wolf". This piece acts as a brief tutorial on many of the most common orchestral instruments and acts as a great way to introduce the instruments and orchestra. This will be followed by what many refer to as "instrument petting zoos" which basically function as carefully guided experimentations on instruments closely supervised/controlled by the musicians. The petting zoos usually work well lasting anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes depending on demand/availability of instruments. With Peter and the Wolf lasting anywhere from 20-30 minutes depending on artistic decisions, that leaves up to half an hour that I like to fill with fun, educational pieces such as the famous introduction to Beethoven's 5th Symphony, a suite from popular movies such as Frozen, Star Wars, and other popular tunes such as our State Song.
