Program Description

Event Description

In honor of Black History Month, the Ralph Ellison Library invites children to explore the sweet history of ice cream and the significant contributions of Augustus Jackson, often referred to as the "Father of Ice Cream." This educational program will highlight Jackson's journey as a Black innovator in the 19th century, showcasing how his methods transformed ice cream production and made it accessible to a broader audience.

This program will conclude with a fun, interactive activity where children can create their own ice cream flavors, inspired by Jackson's legacy.
