Program Description

Event Description

Michael Korenblit, through the lens of his childhood and development, discusses what it was like to be raised in a household of Holocaust survivors during Jim Crow and social segregation of races in Ponca City, Oklahoma.  Drawing on lessons from his parents' traumatic memories and his own experiences in Oklahoma, Mike engages his audience in consideration of events in our time that call us to be aware, connected, and ready to fight back against growing hatred and extremism.  "Never Forget, Never Again" is not just a saying associated with the Jewish community's view of the Shoah, or Jewish Holocaust of the 1930s and 40s in Europe.  It is a reminder that we must ensure, for everyone, that we do not go down the path of our worst history, but instead improve our lives together through respect, understanding, and positive engagement with all our diverse neighbors.
