Event Description
The U.S Department of Justice found that Indigenous women face murder rates that are more than 10 times the national average. Native women have a higher likelihood of experiencing sexual violence than any other ethnicity or nationality in America and 84% of Native women have reported experiencing violence in their life times. Missing and murdered Indigenous Women is an international crisis that is just now starting to be brought to light. Join us in learning about what has caused the crisis and what is being done to combat it. Our special guest presenters are members of Matriarch, a non-profit that promotes the social welfare of Native women through education, community building, and direct services to create positive change within their communities, and Native Alliance Against Violence, a nonprofit organization operating as Oklahoma's only tribal domestic violence and sexual assault coalition.~
