Program Description

Event Description

Black History Month is the perfect opportunity to start documenting your history. Written or oral, personal narratives are powerful forms of history that share unique perspectives to give depth to our understanding of the past. Don't let your story slip away! Preserve memories with a take home kit from the library. Whether you are interested in preserving the story of your family or sharing your experience during historical events like Integration or the Civil Rights Movement, this take home kit can help you get started documenting personal narratives. Kits include guided questions, interviewing tips, and other resources to help you get started.

Want to bring your history into the digital age? Visit the library to type up your story on the library's computers and use our scanning stations to digitize images of photographs or other artifacts you want to preserve, or explore our genealogy databases to learn more about your history.

Registration opens on Tuesday, 2/7. Kit Pickup will be available Tuesday, 2/14 - Monday, 2/20.
