Event Description

This CRYSTAL SUNCATCHER captures the winter sun so beautifully you'll want to hang one in every window and on every tree. You'll stir Epsom salt into hot water, pour the super saturated solution into a clear lid and store it in the fridge for a day or so to form hundreds of delicate crystals. The kit contains Epsom salt for two, clear plastic lids, string and a tiny magnifying glass. You'll need very hot water, a mixing bowl and spoon, something flat on which to place the lids while they're in your fridge, additional clear plastic lids (if desired) and something to punch a small hole in the lids (pin, Exacto, hole punch). If you prefer colored crystals, you will also need a few drops of either liquid watercolor or food coloring. Also included with this kit are a story reading of the beautiful and informative book The Secret Life of a Snowflake AND instructions on The Right Way to Make a Paper Snowflake.

Kits are one per FAMILY (although there will be enough for two). Any duplicate registrations will be deleted. Kits can be picked up at Northwest Library from Wednesday December 2nd through Saturday December 5th. Registered customers must pick up kits by Saturday 4 PM or call the library at (405) 231-8650 to make alternate pick up arrangements as any remaining kits will be made available to waitlisted customers on Sunday. Due to high demand for these kits, all print outs and instructions will be posted here on the SUNDAY after the last day of pickup so that families with siblings or others who may not have had the opportunity to register can reproduce the kit at home.
