Program Description

Event Description

Join us at Almonte for a special international book discussion as we explore Orbital, the 2024 Booker Prize-winning novel by Samantha Harvey. This immersive story follows a day aboard the International Space Station—blurring the line between fact and fiction.

We'll be cohosting this event with a library in Düsseldorf, Germany, featuring a live discussion with Andrea Boyd, Deputy of Astronaut Operations for the European Space Agency and flight controller for the ISS. With their location streamed live on a projector, we’ll have the opportunity to listen to Andrea’s insights, discuss the book, and ask questions about life in orbit.

Don’t miss this chance to connect across time zones and explore space through both literature and real-world expertise!

Participants are not required to have read Orbital, but if you would like to it is available digitally on Hoopla and physical editions across Metropolitan locations.
