Event Description
To celebrate excellence in Women’s History, this week we’re looking at Marianna Moore. Moore (November 15, 1887 – February 5, 1972) was an American modernist poet, critic, translator, and editor. Her poetry is noted for its formal innovation, precise diction, irony, and wit. Her first American volume was titled Observations (1924), which includes some of her best-known poems, including “To a Steam Roller,” “The Fish,” “When I Buy Pictures,” “Peter,” “The Labors of Hercules,” and “Poetry.”
