Event Description

Do you love the Baby-sitter's Club books? Do you want to start your own babysitting business? This is the class for you! We will start the day discussing the first graphic novel in the Babysitter's Club: Kristy's Big Idea by Raina Telgemeir and Ann Martin and then we will have a babysitting workshop from the Oklahoma County Extension office! Teens will learn about child development, what's age-appropriate for their behavior, discipline, etc. They'll also learn safety concerns such as basic first aid, what to do in situations such as tornado warnings, poisonings or accidents, insect bites and allergic reactions. The class includes education on healthy snacks and teens will be instructed on how to create their own snacks during class. There's also a business of babysitting, and teens will learn what to charge, how to market their business and how to make a promotional flyer.

After you register, come to the Belle Isle Library for your copy of Kristy's Great Idea: A Graphic Novel (The Baby-sitters Club #1).
