The postcard shows Rex Aprilla, the king of the Aprilis Fiesta landing a Demoiselle on the rooftop of the 10-story Lee-Huckins Hotel to open the two-day festival commemorating the "Run" of 1889. In 1911, Russell M. Pryer, a clerk at Alexander Drug Store was chosen by popular vote to be Rex Aprilla. Demoiselle was the smallest plane at the time weighing just 300 pounds and by 1910 when Popular Mechanics magazine published the plans inspiring aviation enthusiasts to build their own Demoiselle.
