Built in 1926 with the support of the Federated Colored Women's Clubs to serve the city's black population, this was the second location for the library; its first home was in a storefront at 303 N Stiles in 1921.
The Ralph Ellison Library at 2000 NE 23rd St is closed for upgrades beginning April 16. We anticipate reopening on May 6.
