Historical note	The documents and publications in this collection were donated by James E. Stewart Sr. to the Ralph Ellison Branch of the Metropolitan Library System in 1975 as the Black Heritage Chronicles. The notations F##-## are the numbers assigned and original order imposed by library staff in 1976.
Scope note	This collection includes letters, speeches, notes and publications from the civil rights work of James E. "Jimmy" Stewart. Terms as President of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Oklahoma City branch and multiple local and national organizations.
