Event Description
We'll start Open Mic Poetry Night with a special Juneteenth screening of the film "Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom," documentary film. A Black American is troubled by the legacy of American slavery and the misuse of Christianity to justify it. He travels throughout Texas discovering how the Juneteenth reveals faith and a fight for freedom in an unjust society. After the screening a chance for poetry! Are you an amateur, a seasoned poet, or somewhere in between and looking for someplace to express your talent? Local poets have an opportunity to read their own work or just sit and listen to the work of other budding poets. This is a recurring event and takes place on the last Monday of each month.
