  • Rory's coffee mug
Posted on: Thursday, November 24, 2016

Rory Gilmore is one of THE beloved Gilmore Girls.  Everyone cares for Rory… I don’t mean care, care, like care.  I mean everyone likes her… not like like.  I just mean that if… if you think of her remotely as the sort of person that you could occasionally stand to talk to... oh, never mind!  Rory is the major reader of the show, so I probably had the easiest blog post to write!  She even mentions it in her valedictorian speech at Chilton, “I live in two worlds.  One is a world of books.”  Without further ado, a short reading list for THE Lorelai Leigh ‘Rory’ Gilmore.

Lorelai Gilmore. Mom? Unequivocally. Daughter? Unfortunately. Girlfriend? Check. Wife? Barely. Fiancée? For. Freakin’. Ever.  Inn owner, town activist, friend? Yes, with snacks and faithfully.  Reader? <crickets>.

What would Lorelei recommend for a few moments of recreation?

  • Luke's coffee mug

Dressed in flannel and a ballcap, with a pot of coffee in hand, Luke runs the best diner in Stars Hollow.  He has always been there for Lorelai and Rory, whether it is keeping them fed (because those girls can eat) or fixing up stuff around Lorelai’s house and the Dragonfly Inn. And I know we are all dying to see what has happened in the romance of Luke and Lorelai since we last saw them.

  • Emily's coffee mug

The fearsome Emily Gilmore. A single sentence from her will sound like a compliment but, on reflection, cut you to the core. Her dry sense of humor and high standards are only the outer persona of a complicated character who is so many things-- intelligent, harsh, frustrated, protective, judgmental, and fierce. What would be on her reading list? Buy me a boa and drive me to Reno.

Sookie St. James: best friend, wife, mother, and the best cook in Star’s Hollow.( Hang on, is Jackson listening? No? Yeah, definitely best cook in Star’s Hollow.) So what does Sookie read, watch, and listen to when she’s not wrangling cakes, kids, and a deranged best friend?

One thing we know about Paris Geller: she is destined for greatness.  At the end of Gilmore Girls season seven she decided to go to medical school after being accepted into every medical school AND law school in the Ivy League.  Who knows what path she will ultimately take?
