    The closing ceremony in Pyeongchang ended another chapter in Olympic history. In a flashy display of fireworks and ingenuity, organizers created a program that infused components of ancient Korean culture with elements highlighting strong economic and technological advancements. Among its many exports that were on display, K-pop was front and center with performances from EXO and former 2NE1 member, CL.

    There are a million reasons to love hoopla. Using only your library card and an internet connection you can access a massive collection of e-books, audiobooks, movies, and music. What’s even more impressive is that the curators at hoopla are constantly updating their digital library with the latest releases. In January the Academy Award nominees were announced and I always look forward to hearing the nominees for “Best Music (Original Score),” so I was elated to find that hoopla already had all five of the nominees available to check out!

    The Metropolitan Library System is now offering free digital media streaming to library customers. Hoopla offers digital streaming much like Netflix, but it is free with a library card.

    The library system partnered with the digital web platform Hoopla to offer movies, TV shows, music, audiobooks and eBooks 24/7 without holds or waits. The free digital streaming service includes over 450,000 titles.

    Any fan of the epic television saga, Game of Thrones, realizes that music plays an enormous part in the success of the series. The jaw-dropping and fateful opening sequence of last season's penultimate episode was all but carried by Ramin Djawadi's gothic minimalist cue, "Light of the Seven." But his massively successful score is not the only musical aspect of the show.

    Anyone who has been keeping up with David Lynch for the past 30 years knows that he and composer Angelo Badalamenti make quite the team. Badalamenti has scored every one of Lynch’s cinematic projects since Blue Velvet in 1986, garnering himself many awards. Most recently his music can be heard as the soundtrack to this summer’s hit series, Twin Peaks: The Return. What may come as a surprise to many is the fact that these two masters only met by coincidence.
