    We had a busy year in 2001. We deepened our commitment to children and families with the debut of Family Place which transformed our libraries into centers for family support, life-long learning and emergent literacy. We also broke ground on a brand new Choctaw Library. The previous facility in a shopping center had been severely damaged by a tornado.

    We partied like it was 1999 long before 1999 came around. The biggest sensation of 1999 was, you guessed it, Y2K. The doomsday prophecy that would end all computers causing their robotic minds to fail us, leaving us in anarchy and chaos. This led the way for the doomsday preppers of the new millennium and most places upgraded their computer systems to avoid digital fallout.

Yep, it’s 1979, when the Sony Walkman was king, the height of comfort was lounging in a bean bag chair, and a gallon of gasoline cost 86 cents.
