Not too long ago, if you wanted to experience music from your library, your options were limited to checking out CDs or DVDs of your favorite artists and performances. One drawback to this is the fact that the title you’re looking for may already be checked out. But have no fear! You library card is now a key to many great online resources to give you your music fix - all available without having to wait.

There are a million reasons to love hoopla. Using only your library card and an internet connection you can access a massive collection of e-books, audiobooks, movies, and music. Better yet, you never have to wait on hoopla items because they are always available. What’s even more impressive is that the curators at hoopla are constantly updating their digital library with the latest releases. In January the Academy Award nominees were announced and I always look forward to hearing the nominees for “Best Music (Original Score),” so I was elated to find that hoopla already had all five of the nominees available to check out!

Have you tried hoopla yet? It’s great for reading graphic novels, and there’s never a waiting list for the title you want. You can stream or download 6 items each month. All your need is your Metropolitan Library System card number and a web browser, smart phone, or tablet, and you can keep your loans for 3 weeks. I download comics using the hoopla app on my iPad.
