The Metropolitan Library System offers syndicated news feeds of some of its web content in the RSS format. RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, allows anyone with Internet access to keep up to date automatically with what is happening at the Metropolitan Library System. You can also keep up to date on new materials being added to the library’s collection through an RSS feed. RSS feeds are written in XML and require a news reader to access.
How can I read the feeds?
There are several ways to receive/read RSS feeds. Internet Explorer 7 has a built in web-based reader. NOTE* Internet Explorer 6 does not contain a news reader and the RSS feed will not display properly. Mozilla Firefox allows you to subscribe to RSS feeds using Live bookmarks, and the Safari web browser on the Mac will support most RSS feeds without additional software. There are several other web-based readers such as Google Reader, My Yahoo!, or Bloglines. You can also download reader applications that run on your computer that will allow you to read RSS feeds outside of a web browser. You will need to follow the instructions for the reader you are using to subscribe to the feeds you choose.
