Author and Illustrator of Bestselling Books for Young Readers to Talk at OKC Libraries
Bestselling author and illustrator Victoria Jamieson will visit OKC in March for a series of writing workshops and author appearances.
Events will be held at eight of the Metro area libraries from March 12 - 17, 2018. Attendance to the events is free, but advance registration may be required to reserve a spot. Jamieson will teach Graphic Novel Writing Workshops and hold open discussions and book signings, including special appearances from the Victory Dolls Roller Derby Team.
Jamieson is known for her middle-grade graphic novels and early reader picture books, most notably Roller Girl, winner of the Newbery Honor Award. Roller Girl tells the story of junior high school student Astrid, who dreams of her roller derby debut but struggles when a rift with her best friend shakes her confidence. The novel was inspired by Jamieson’s passion for roller derby as a member of the Rose City Rollers.
“We can’t wait to meet Victoria Jamieson. Her books are popular with kids of all ages because of her awesome illustrations and relatable stories,” said children’s services manager, Kristin Williamson, “Kids will not only have an opportunity to meet her, but they can attend one of her graphic novel writing workshops and learn how to write graphic novels of their own,”.
Jamieson is also the author of the popular Pets on the Loose graphic novel series and other notable early reader picture books and middle-grade novels.
A full list of events is located on the MLS calendar.
