Everyone should have fun at the library — including our Summer Volunteers, but there are also
important things for our Volunteers to know!

Identification
Summer Volunteers must wear their name tag and Volunteer T-shirt while working in the library.

Illness & Absenteeism
If you are ill or unable to work your scheduled shift at the library, you must all your librarian.

Cell PhonePhone Calls & Cell Phones
Please limit your use of the phones to library business, emergencies, or calling for a ride home. We ask that you do not receive or make calls to friends. Please do not use cell phones in the library—either leave them at home or turn them off when in the library.

Books, Magazines, CDs, Tapes, & Videos
If you find a book, magazine, CD, or video you’d like to take home, you must check it out on your library card.

Food & Drinks
While food and drinks are not allowed in the library, a break room is available for lunch or snacks. Please make arrangements for using the break room with your librarian.

Friends
If friends drop by the library, greet them when they arrive and keep visiting to a minimum.

Attitude
A good attitude goes a long way in making both your coworkers and our customers of all ages feel comfortable and welcome. Look for ways to help others, be polite, and never hesitate to ask for help—we’re all in this together!

Time Sheet
You must sign in and out on your time sheet each time you volunteer.

Volunteer Recognition
We appreciate our volunteers, so each Summer Volunteer who completes a specified amount of service time and receives a recommendation from a supervising librarian—will have the opportunity to take home several appreciation gifts and attend a thank-you party.
