    The library will be closed to the public from Monday, Jan. 21 for approximately six weeks (we hope to reopen around Mar. 10).

    While your local library may be closed, we are still here to serve your information needs.

    In After School at Your Library, local artists at select library locations work with teens on a weekly basis, using creative projects to encourage and reinforce positive interactions, teach skills, and provide an outlet for artistic expression. Every participating library location has a different artist with a different specialty and project focus. Sometimes it's visual art like drawing and painting, sometimes it's film and video production, or creative movement and dance.

    In celebration of Black History Month, this February the Metropolitan Library System is once again partnering with Rhythmically Speaking to present a new play by Oklahoma City playwright DWe Williams, “Nothing But Mercy: A Private Room Please!”

    It’s the story of two strong women who never met but together pioneered a compassionate new way of life by undermining a cruel old one.

    Hong Wang, who is the Artistic Director of the musical ensemble Melody of China, thinks that young people in the west have little knowledge of China beyond egg rolls, Jackie Chan and Kung Fu Panda and his goal is to expand their horizons.

    Helping him with that goal, the Metropolitan Library System is sponsoring a series of concerts by Melody of China. The ten concerts will be presented at ten MLS locations November 3-8.

    Your Metropolitan Library System joins with Oklahoma City’s Wookies, padawans and Jedis to celebrate all things Star Wars. And reading, too.

    The Second Annual Star Wars Reads Day is Saturday, October 5, and MLS has scheduled special events at five libraries.

    The system allows patrons to reserve online and pick up at a designated area at their preferred branch.

    The Metropolitan Library System has continually integrated automation into its customer service at branch locations in recent years and that trend will continue with its new self-pickup program.
