    By age seven, Peter Fletcher was already studying classical guitar. It’s a long way from a beginning like that to Carnegie Hall, but Fletcher is moving from a recent concert at Carnegie to Belle Isle Library for his second presentation at the library venue.

    Belle Isle Library, 5501 N. Villa, welcomes his return on Monday, April 22, at 7:00p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.

    The Metropolitan Library System has continually integrated automation into its customer service at branch locations in recent years and that trend will continue with its new self-pickup program.

    Get in the mood for Mardi Gras without having to go to New Orleans.

    The Belle Isle Library, 5501 N. Villa, presents a Winter Mardi Gras Concert with the Roger Kimball Duo. The musical fun is Saturday, February 2, at 2:00 p.m. at the library. There is no charge for admission and the event is open to everyone.

    To ensure that that her love of reading continues, the Metropolitan Library System Endowment Trust recently accepted a donation of approximately $1.4 million from the estate of LaVerne Taylor.

    The gift, which is the largest in the library system history, was given to the Library Endowment Trust to help benefit and support the library for generations to come.

    A holiday spent on the open plains of the Old West could have been mighty lonesome, but Belle Isle Library, 5501 N. Villa, 843-9601, has found a way to liven up the Wild West spirit of the season.

    Cowboy Jim Garling brings the special sound of “A Cowboy Christmas” to Belle Isle on Sunday, December 2 for a 2:30 p.m. concert. The event is free and suitable for all ages.

    Chanson du Soir is the husband and wife team of David Isaacs, on the classical guitar, and Chelsea Camille, soprano. It’s a combination not heard often in concert halls, but after hearing it once you’ll wonder why.

    Chanson du Soir will be in performance at the Belle Isle Library, 5501 N. Villa, on Saturday, October 6 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. The concert is free and suitable for all ages.
