    Watercolors are among the most popular media for hobbyists who love to paint. The transparent luminosity has delighted viewers and artists since the Paleolithic days of cave painting.

    Local artists Jim and Marilyn Pourtorkan will visit the Edmond Library, 20 S. Boulevard, to share their love of watercolors and introduce the basic skills and techniques of watercolor painting on Saturday, January 26, at 10:00 a.m.

    The Metropolitan Library System’s annual Our World concert series has brought to central Oklahoma the music of South America, Asia, and the Louisiana bayous, but this year’s performances are something special. Prepare for the music of the Great White North.

    Genticorum, a trio specializing in traditional music with a unique twist, will appear at 10 MLS locations between November 4-9.

    Once or twice a year the Metropolitan Library System has to make way for new furnishings by holding what could be called a large garage sale. This is not a book sale, but is instead a sale of surplus furniture and equipment.

    The next MLS retail sale will be conducted on Friday, October 12, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. The sale will be held at the Metropolitan Library System Maintenance Center, 1364 N.E. 3rd, Oklahoma City.

    And that’s why the Metropolitan Library System is teaming with Integris 3rd Age Life and Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation to present “No More Slips, Trips or Broken Hips,” an informational program that will show people how to avoid falling.
