XII Days of Star Wars, Day XII: Darth Vader

Darth Vader icon

As difficult as it is making book, music or movie recommendations to a Sith Lord, it's even more difficult being a Sith Lord. Your boss is always on your case about your son joining the business and wanting you to blow up planets and squash rebellions. But on those rare occasions when you get a chance to visit the library during a break from crushing someone’s will and turning them to the dark side (it really is difficult getting to a library when you’re traveling from a galaxy far, far away), you want a book, CD, or movie that speaks to your inner Jedi. Just remember, don’t call him Anakin, unless the Force is with you.

Super Sad True Love Story by Gary Shteyngart

Unlike Vader's love life, this book is hilarious.

Evil Plans: Having Fun on the Road to World Domination by Hugh MacLeod

Sometimes you get stuck in a rut at your job, like maybe you don’t want to eradicate all the Jedi or capture the Rebel Alliance. There are only so many planets you can destroy before you ask yourself “What do I really want to do?” If your boss's plan to rule the universe isn’t for you, this book will help you find your true path.

Mind Magic & Mentalism for Dummies by James Clark

Squeezing the life out of a subordinate when he displays a disturbing lack of faith about your “quasi” religion isn’t as easy as it looks. Sometimes, you need a guidebook.

Daddy, Stop Talking! And Other Things My Kids Won't Be Getting by Adam Corolla

Gives sage advice on parenting, but doesn’t explain what to do when you cut off your son's hand or blow up your daughter's home planet.

Scanners

Scanners are people born with telekinesis and Darryl Revok is the most powerful Scanner around. You either joined him or be destroyed by him. Cameron Vale is an unknown scanner who is related to Revok. He is discovered by Dr. Paul Ruth, an old guy with a beard, who wants him to join him in his fight against Revok and his evil…wait, this sounds vaguely familiar. Anyhoo…in the first twenty minutes of the movie, Revok blows a guy's head apart with his mind, kind of like how the Death Star blew Alderaan apart! Impressive!

Back in Black by AC/DC

Vader could rock out to this when he's sitting in his meditation chamber, contemplating all the ways he can destroy the Rebel Alliance, bunch of goody-two-shoes do-gooders.
