Happy Birthday, iPhone!

2017 marks the 10 year anniversary of the device that changed life as we know it… at least my life!  Anyone who knows me knows my iPhone is never far from my person.  My whole life is on that thing from my email to my daily calendar and to-do lists, to the most important thing of all… my books!  Yes, I am a hardcore ebook fanatic.  And in this day and age, it’s really hard not to be one.  You can have a book with you wherever you go.  How can you argue with that?

Many of you may already be aware of the amazing digital collections of resources we have through databases like:

But did you know that some of our other databases offer free apps to download onto your phone?  And I’m talking to Android users too!   Check out these awesome apps that you can use for free with your library card!

Mango Languages
With this app, you can learn a language on the go! Why not practice your Italian while grocery shopping. Or brush up on your Spanish while waiting at the doctor’s office. This handy app tracks your progress and will have you speaking a new language in no time!

Do you need to gain some new skills for your job? Interested in a new career? Then lynda.com is the app for you. With these interactive video courses, you can learn from the professionals the skills you need for a new career.

Signing Savvy
Have you ever wanted to learn sign language? Then this is the app for you! With an interactive dictionary, categories from baby signs to letters to geography, and the ability to video chat with the professionals, this app is your one-stop-shop to learning sign language!

This app is the best for printing on the go! Simply download the app, pick one of our library locations to send it to, and drop by the library anytime that day to pick up your print job at the printer. It’s quick and super easy!

To access these apps, all you need is your library card number and your last name (for the PIN).  These apps can be found in the app store on your device.  For further assistance, feel free to drop by our libraries.  Staff are happy to assist you!

So celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the iPhone (no matter what device you have!) and download one of these free apps to make your life easier!  Or just download an ebook or audiobook to start the year off right!

Happy Reading!
