All libraries will be closed on Mon, 1/21 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Calling all writers!
Are you interested in becoming a published author? The Metropolitan Library System is proud to announce that submissions are open for our second annual Literary Magazine. This year we will accept submissions for short story, poetry, and non-fiction essay. All ages are encouraged to participate in this inclusive literary publication.
The submission deadline is April 1st. Entries will be judged by library staff from all across our system and service area. This is an opportunity for the library to highlight some of OKC’s best and emerging writers. Copies of the publication will be printed and available to read and check out. Winners will also have the opportunity to be recognized at our literary festival in May.
Oklahoma City has a reputation for producing local authors as legendary as Ralph Ellison and as popular as Gena Showalter. We believe that this magazine can serve as a platform to increase author awareness, foster writing community opportunities, and acknowledge superb writing. If you’re a seasoned writer, an up-and-coming novelist, or even a poet who doesn’t know it, we would love to see your work!
Participants are encouraged to submit short stories and non-fiction essays up to 3000 words. Poets are allowed to submit up to two works.
