    Looking for something imaginative and artistic you can do with your children? Edmond Library has just what you need.

    Popular local artist and painting instructor Jim Pourtorkan will visit the Edmond Library, 10 S. Boulevard, to share his love of watercolors and introduce the basic skills and techniques of watercolor painting to children ages 8-12 and their parents on Saturday, November 16 at 10:00 a.m.

    Your Metropolitan Library System joins with Oklahoma City’s Wookies, padawans and Jedis to celebrate all things Star Wars. And reading, too.

    The Second Annual Star Wars Reads Day is Saturday, October 5, and MLS has scheduled special events at five libraries.

    For some kids the longest hours of the day are the ones between the end of school and supper. Now that time can be filled with a variety of art projects.

    “’After School at Your Library’ is a series of fun afternoon events,” said Metropolitan Library System Young Adult Services Coordinator Emily Williams. “We’ve invited some of the best artists and art instructors in town to work with kids and teens ages 10-16 to introduce them to creating art of their own.”

    If only one thing were true about all kids it would be that they love to hear stories. Now the Capitol Hill Library is telling them their favorite tales the way they want to hear them.

    The next meeting of Capitol Hill’s Bilingual Story Time will be Tuesday, March 19 from 6:00-7:00p.m. The session is for children ages eight and younger, with parent or caregiver. The library is located at 334 S.W. 26th Street, phone 634-6308.
