After careful review and consideration, Metro Libary will discontinue the Freegal Music service. The last day of service will be July 23, 2018. Music that you have downloaded to your computer directly from the Freegal website is already yours to keep. However, music you have downloaded from the Freegal app must be exported to your computer in order for you to keep it.

I've started this blog post on Pride and LGBTQIA resources about half a dozen times. In one, I wrote about the history of the Stonewall Riots and the first Gay Pride march almost fifty years ago. • Talk Bookish to Me

Like most snooty book nerds, I turned my nose up at audiobooks for a long time. I know how to read. I don’t need to listen to someone else read a book to me, I thought. Audiobooks are lazy. • Summer Reading 2018
Posted on: Wednesday, May 30, 2018

The launch of Metro Library's 2018 summer reading program, “Libraries Rock” begins Friday, June 1st. The program gives children, teens AND adults the opportunity to earn prizes while they read for fun and promote the importance of reading in our communities. The program launches June 1 and concludes July 31. Summer readers can track their reading progress and earn fine waivers, books, tote bags or cellphone accessories. There will also be prize drawings for Kindle Fires and iPads for participates who have an active Metro Library card. Prizes must be claimed by Aug. 15.

Participants can also select to donate their fine waivers and prize books to someone in need. This year the summer reading Read it Forward program will donate books to local non- profit organizations including Citizens Caring for Children, Faithworks of the Inner City, Mary Mahoney Memorial Health Center and Sisu Youth Services. All summer reading book prizes are sponsored through the Friends of the Metropolitan Library System.
